A Summit on Migrating to a Green Supply Chain Platform

On September 18, 2008, the Center will host a summit on migrating to a green supply chain platform.  Speakers at the event will include:

Kevin Lyons, Ph.D., Chief Procurement Officer and Director of Purchasing, Rutgers, The State University of NJ:  Greening the Supply Chain:  Contract Development and the Environmental Challenge

Paulette Frank, Senior Director of External Manufacturing Initiatives, Johnson & Johnson: Advancing Sustainability - One Supplier at a Time

Stephanie Lamster Brandt, Performance Track Coordinator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 2:  Performance Track: Recognizing and Driving Environmental Excellence

The event will also include an Executive Discussion Panel, featuring managers from leading organizations discussing green initiatives and best practices.  Facilitator:  Anthony T. Jackson, General Manager, Vice President, Lucille Maud Corporation.

The Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management holds educational events throughout the year on hot topics in supply chain management.  The following links provide information on several of our recent programs:

June 4-6, 2008:  Annual Supply Chain Management Certificate Program:  Strategies for Managing the End-to-End Supply Chain

Each Spring, the Center hosts its annual supply chain management certificate program on the Rutgers-Livingston campus.  This year's program took place June 4-6, 2008, and focused on the major aspects of supply chain management, including strategy, sourcing and procurement, logistics, and organization alignment.  For further information, please visit http://scm.rutgers.edu/cp.

Student Case Competition

RBS Team Wins Supply Chain Management Case Competition

On Friday, November 16, 2007, the Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management hosted its annual case competition for schools in the region with distinguished supply chain management graduate programs. Student teams competed before a panel of industry executives from the following companies: AstraZeneca, Barrier Therapeutics, Becton Dickinson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, MetLife, PSEG, Sciele Pharma and Schering-Plough.

The winning team was from Rutgers Business School. Team members, all of whom are students in the MBA program, included:

• Sandip Biswas
• Tzu-Chin Chou
• Vivek Nayak
• Elizabeth Wilkinson

Teams were judged on several key areas, including analysis of critical business issues, originality of solutions, articulation of ideas, and presentation style. Participating schools included:

• P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science, Lehigh University
• College of Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology
• Smeal College of Business, Pennsylvania State University
• School of Business, Rutgers University

According to Dr. Lei Lei, Professor at Rutgers Business School and Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management, “Rutgers was proud to host this competition featuring students from prestigious schools in the New Jersey metropolitan region. The competition served as an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their business skills before a panel of senior industry executives, who enjoyed the chance to see top students in action.”
